Getting Started

Registration is a simple three-step process: Profile Info, a short introduction to the community, and Terms & Conditions. It's available in both English and தமிழ் — use the language toggle to switch.

Use the 24/7 Help Line on the login page. It reaches an admin directly and doesn't require an existing account.

When people you follow have posted within the last 24 hours, up to 8 of them appear there, most recent first. Tapping someone's avatar takes you straight to their latest post.

Verification Badges

Green — full verification (property deeds + community certificate, admin-approved). Yellow — partial verification (only one of the two documents). Blue — community verified, vouched for by 3 or more Green Badge members.

Submit your documents for review from your profile. An admin will approve or decline the request.

If you already hold a badge, you can add a relative whose surname or father's name matches yours. Once they verify their identity, they're automatically granted the same badge — every grant is logged and can be reviewed or revoked by an admin afterward.

Posts

General, Business, Matrimony, Poll, Help, and Notice (admin-only) — each suited to a different kind of sharing.

Use the attachment button, drag-and-drop files directly onto the post form, or paste an image straight from your clipboard. Videos automatically get a thumbnail. iPhone photos (HEIC format) are supported too — they're automatically converted so everyone can see them, not just other iPhone users.

Every post has an 8-digit Post ID. Use "Copy Post ID" on any post to share a direct link to it, anywhere on the site - including inside a message, where it renders as a tappable link.

Public is a normal post. Notice is an official announcement that interrupts every affected member's browsing with a pop-up alert. Only Following restricts a Notice to just your followers.

Type #word anywhere in your post text - as you type, existing tags are suggested. Tap any hashtag on a post (yours or anyone else's) to see every post that shares it.

Yes - use the Tag Friends field when creating or editing a post to search your friends list. They'll get a notification and need to accept before the tag actually shows on the post - it's never automatic, and only ever between actual friends.

Yes - open Edit on your post, and drag any photo in "Current Photos" to reposition it. You can also add more photos or remove existing ones from the same screen.

Use the share button on any post for WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, or Facebook - each generates a proper preview card with the post's title and image automatically.

Following & Friends

Follow is instant, no approval needed - their posts appear more prominently and you're notified when they post. Add Friend requires the other person to accept; once accepted, you automatically follow each other, and can message even if they've turned off messaging for the general public.

No - Follow never grants Friend-level access on its own. The two are intentionally kept completely separate.

Messaging

Yes - your own text messages can be edited within 15 minutes of sending. An "(edited)" label appears afterward.

"Delete for me" removes it from your view only - everyone else still sees it normally. "Delete for everyone" replaces it with "This message was deleted" for the whole conversation, and only works on your own messages.

Up to 5 files per message, 25MB combined - via the + button, drag-and-drop, or pasting from your clipboard. Photos show a small preview you can tap to view full size with a Save option; you can also crop a photo before sending.

A first message from someone who isn't yet your friend arrives as a request rather than landing directly in your main inbox.

Notifications

Comments, replies, and reactions; follows and friend requests; mentions and reshares; helpful marks and profile support; direct and group messages; business offers; Help post approvals and volunteer alerts; Poll Wake-Up Calls; badge updates; and admin notices.

An important Notice interrupts your browsing with a pop-up the next time you load the site, rather than waiting to be noticed in the bell icon. You can open it with View Now, or dismiss it temporarily with Remind Me Later - it reappears until you've actually viewed it.

Turn on Push Notifications from the Settings menu (gear icon). Your browser will ask you to allow them once.

Digital Wellbeing

After an extended browsing session, a neutral reminder appears summarizing your time spent, posts viewed, and data used, along with a short note about mindful browsing. You can choose Continue Browsing or Take a Break.

No - it's a wellness feature only, not a moderation action. It never restricts your account in any way.

A fuller, private dashboard of your own time and data on the platform - total time spent today, data used, and posts viewed, plus an hourly breakdown you can switch between Time, Data, and Posts Viewed views for.

Privacy & Safety

It's an absolute lock - when enabled, no one but you can view your profile, regardless of follow, friend, or even admin status.

Yes - turn off messaging from non-friends in Privacy Settings. Your friends can always still reach you regardless.

"View As Others See It" in Privacy Settings shows your profile exactly as a stranger would see it, including which buttons they'd have available.

You can block another user at any time from their profile or a conversation menu, and report specific comments that violate community guidelines for admin review.

Volunteers (TNA)

Turn on "Tamil Nationalist Army" in Privacy Settings, set your district (and optionally nearby districts you can also help in), and you'll be alerted whenever a matching Help request needs a volunteer.

A status badge next to "Approved" shows exactly where it stands: Needs a Volunteer, Volunteer Assigned, Accepted, In Progress, or Completed - so you can avoid duplicating effort on something already being handled.

Once you're a volunteer, a TNA badge appears on your profile and a dedicated dashboard lists every Help request platform-wide, plus your own tasks with a simple progress bar: Assigned → Accepted → Initiated → Completed.

Community Support & DBS

A way to formally request support from a trusted friend who holds a Green Badge. The request must be between friends, and the supporter can approve or decline it - each pair is limited to 3 attempts.

A reputation score out of 100, shown on every profile alongside a tier. It reflects positive activity (likes received, comments liked, helpful posts, shares, supporters) against negative activity (posts or comments removed, confirmed reports against you).

Business Marketplace

Create a Business post with a deadline and usage timing. Interested buyers can make an offer directly on your listing.

As the listing owner, review every offer made and select the one you want - the buyer is notified automatically once you choose.

தமிழ்தேசிய ஊடகம்

A long-form writing space, separate from the regular feed - for research, history, opinion, and anything that needs more room than a normal post. Any member can write there, organized into browsable sections like History, Culture, Politics, and more.

Use "Write a Blog" from தமிழ்தேசிய ஊடகம். The writing area matches the exact width and text size of the published page, so what you see while writing is what readers will actually see. Add a cover photo, embed a YouTube video, attach files, and drag images to reposition them anywhere in your text. To format text, select it (or right-click on desktop) - a small toolbar appears right there with every formatting option.

If you hold any verification badge (Green, Blue, or Yellow), yes - it publishes right away. If not, it's saved as Pending Review, visible only to you, until an admin approves it. You'll be notified either way, and can always save as a draft instead if you're not ready to publish.

Yes - open Edit on your article to drag photos to reorder them, add more, or remove existing ones, the same as editing a regular post.

Yes - anyone logged in can comment, and typing @ brings up the same live suggestions as posts. A logged-out visitor sees a prompt to sign up before they can comment.

Use the share buttons on any article for WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, or Facebook. If you're logged in, there's also a "Share to தமிழ்தேசியத் தளம்" button that posts the article straight to your own feed on the main platform.

It copies a shareable #B-prefixed ID (like #B7) along with a direct link. Typing that ID anywhere on the site - a post, a comment, a message - automatically turns it into a clickable link back to the article.

Promoted shows posts an admin has chosen to feature from the main platform - tapping one takes a logged-out visitor to register or login. Trending shows recent public posts from தமிழ்தேசியத் தளம், to help readers discover the main community too.

Yes - "Write a Blog" has two built-in typing tools, both optional and switchable with one click. Tam99 uses the official Tamil99 key layout (the same one used for TNPSC/court typist exams). Transliteration lets you spell a word's sound in plain English - "amma" or "vanakkam" - and converts it live as you type.

Some English spellings genuinely match more than one Tamil word (like "kal", which could be கல் "stone" or கள் "plural"). When that happens, a small picker appears below your cursor - click the one you meant, or press its number key. Otherwise it just keeps its best guess and you keep typing normally.

Click "Keymap" next to the Tam99 and Transliteration buttons - it shows every key for both typing tools, including the special Shift keys, the pulli key, and the capital-letter convention Transliteration uses for sounds that would otherwise be ambiguous.

There's no fixed toolbar taking up space at the top - select any text (or right-click it on desktop) and a small toolbar appears right next to it: bold, italic, underline, font, size, color, alignment, lists, links, images, and file attachments. On mobile, simply selecting text is enough to bring it up - there's no right-click on a phone, so selecting does the same job.

Format Painter copies formatting from one piece of text and applies it to another - select formatted text, click the brush icon, then select the text you want it applied to. On desktop, Ctrl+Alt+C (Cmd+Option+C on Mac) copies formatting and Ctrl+Alt+V (Cmd+Option+V) pastes it - and unlike the brush icon, the keyboard version can be pasted onto several different selections in a row without copying again each time.

Yes - Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on Mac) saves your article as a draft from anywhere in the title or writing area, instead of opening your browser's own save dialog.

Click "My Articles" from the writing page or தமிழ்தேசிய ஊடகம்'s sidebar - it lists everything you've written, including drafts only visible to you, with when each was last updated and a direct Edit link back into it.

The most recent article is shown in full right on the homepage, so you can read the whole thing without clicking through - everything below it stays as a shorter preview list, as usual.

Use the "Share this:" bar at the bottom of any article (or the share icon next to the title) for WhatsApp, Telegram, or Share to your Story. Tap the small share icon among them for more options, including Twitter, Facebook, or your device's own share menu.

It posts the article directly to your own feed on தமிழ்தேசியத் தளம், the same way sharing a post works - your followers see it as something you shared, right there on the site, not just an outside link.

That's the article's ID (like #B1) - tap the copy icon next to the title to copy it along with a direct link. You can paste it into a post, comment, or message anywhere on the site (or outside it) to reference that exact article.

தமிழ்தேசிய நூலகம்

A virtual library of books added by members - browse by section, read any book for free, and download a copy if you're a Premium member. Every book is watermarked and served page-by-page, so it can't be casually copied.

Open தமிழ்தேசிய நூலகம் from the hamburger menu, find a book (by browsing sections, searching, or in the 3D view), and open it - it loads straight into the built-in reader with page-turn navigation. Reading is always free for every member.

Normal Mode is the familiar shelf-and-folder layout for quickly browsing and searching. The 3D view is an animated library room with real racks and a small tiger that walks over, fetches your chosen book, and carries it to a reading desk. Switch between them anytime with the toggle button - both open the exact same books.

Type its Book ID into the search box in the sidebar. The camera automatically brings that book's rack into clear view, a small arrow marks exactly which book it is, and a button appears to send the tiger to fetch it.

Click "Add a Book" and fill in the title, section, and the PDF itself - a cover photo is optional, since page 1 of your PDF is automatically used as the cover if you don't choose one. Every page is watermarked automatically once uploaded.

If you're an admin, yes - it publishes right away. Otherwise, it's held for admin review before appearing in the library, the same as a தமிழ்தேசிய ஊடகம் article from an unverified account.

It's each book's permanent identifier, shown on its cover card and inside the reader. Use it to search for a specific book in the 3D view, or to reference it exactly when reporting a problem.

Use "Report a Book" (from the library page, or the flag icon inside the reader), and give the book's name, its Book ID, and what's wrong - including the page number if it's specific to one page. An admin reviews every report and can remove the book, freeze it until it's fixed, or ask the uploader to correct it.

Reading is always free, but downloading a copy needs Premium membership (₹1200/year). Click Download in the reader - if you're not Premium yet, you'll see what it unlocks and a button to request membership.

Click Download on any book while you're not yet Premium, then "Continue to Apply for Membership" - this sends a request straight to the admins, who'll follow up with you about payment.

A note lets you bookmark a specific page with your own reason - "come back to this quote," "check this later," anything you want to remember. Add one from inside the reader; view and manage them all from "My Library."

Your personal library page with three tabs - Continue Reading (books in progress, with your last page saved), Collection (books you've bookmarked to come back to), and Notes (everything you've written down while reading).

Yes - your page automatically saves as you read, and the book reopens right where you stopped next time, both from "My Library" and from opening it again directly.

A short entrance hall with the site's flag and portraits of திருவள்ளுவர் and பாரதிதாசன், along with how many sections and books the library currently holds. Tap "Explore the library" to continue in.

The 3D view opens full-screen so you can see the racks clearly. Tap the small ✕ button in the corner (or press Esc on a computer) to step out and reveal the sidebar with sections and search. Picking a section or book from there brings you straight back into the full view.

Yes - once a rack is in view, click any book on it and the tiger goes straight to fetch that exact one. No need to search or open a list first if you can already see it.

Click a rack once to select and face it, then click that same rack again - a panel opens showing every book on it as a cover card. Click any cover there to send the tiger for it.

The book itself gently rocks and glows on the desk to catch your eye. Just tap or click it directly to open it in the reader - there's no separate button or popup to look for.

That's the book's own Book ID (like LIB00000001), printed vertically the way a real spine reads. On a computer, hovering over a book also shows a small preview of its cover and ID before you fetch it.

Each rack only holds a limited number of books with clear space between them, so they stay easy to browse and click. Once a section grows past that, the extra books automatically get their own additional rack for the same section rather than being crammed onto one.

Yes - when it's not fetching a book for you, it wanders between the racks on its own. You can pause it anytime with the "Pause the tiger" button in the sidebar if it's distracting while you're browsing.

Account & Safety

From Edit Profile's Danger Zone, choose Delete My Account. You'll need to confirm with your password and type DELETE.

No - there's a 30-day recovery window. Log back in during that period and you'll be offered a one-click restore. After 30 days, it becomes permanent.

Turn it on in Privacy Settings under Account Security. Once enabled, after your password is accepted, we also email you a one-time code - login only completes once you enter it. This is optional, and off by default.

Yes - use "Resend Code" on the verification screen. You can resend up to 3 times, then there's a short wait before more are allowed, up to a maximum of 6 resends in any 24-hour period.

Turn it on in Privacy Settings to allow only one active login at a time. Signing in on a new device automatically signs you out everywhere else - the device that got signed out sees a notice explaining why, without needing to refresh or navigate anywhere.

Go to Manage Devices, linked from Privacy Settings - it lists every device currently signed in, when it was last active, and lets you log out any one of them individually or all others at once.

Turn it on in Privacy Settings to be automatically signed out after 30 minutes with no activity - useful on a shared or public computer. Off by default, like the other Account Security options.

A Passkey lets you sign in with your device's Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or screen lock instead of typing your password. Set one up from Privacy Settings under Passkeys - your password keeps working too, a passkey is an additional way in, not a replacement. It's tied to the specific device you register it on, so you'll add one separately on each device you want to use it from.

No - signing in with a Passkey skips the email code step, even with 2FA enabled. A passkey already combines two things a code can't: it only exists on your specific device, and it only unlocks with your fingerprint, face, or screen lock. Since it can't be typed into a fake copy of the site the way a password can, it's also resistant to phishing in a way passwords never are.

The site never asks for one specific method - it only asks your device to confirm it's really you, and your device decides how, based on what it has available. An iPhone might use Face ID or fall back to its regular passcode if Face ID isn't set up (for example, if the camera is disabled); a laptop with a fingerprint reader uses that; other devices may offer a pattern or PIN. Whatever your device offers is automatically supported - there's nothing to configure on your end.

Site Security

Yes - your password is never stored in readable form anywhere, including for our own team. It's run through a one-way scrambling process (hashing) the moment you set it, so even if our database were ever exposed, your actual password wouldn't be recoverable from it.

Every login attempt is rate-limited - after too many failed tries in a short window, further attempts are blocked for a period, both for that specific account and from that specific source. This makes automated password-guessing impractical.

Every upload is checked several different ways before it's ever accepted - by its file type, by what it actually contains (not just its file name), and it's stored in a way that can never be run as a program on our server, no matter what it is.

Your session identifier is marked so it can never be read by a script running on a page, only sent directly between your browser and our server. It's also regenerated the moment you log in, so an identifier issued before you logged in can never be reused afterward.

Every page only allows scripts and content to load from a specific, approved list of sources - nothing else can run on the site even if it were somehow injected. Everything you type anywhere (posts, comments, messages, profile fields) is also carefully filtered before it's ever shown to anyone else, so it can only ever display as text, never run as code.

Every action that changes something on the site (posting, messaging, changing a setting) requires a unique, single-use security token that only a genuine page you're actually looking at can generate - a request coming from anywhere else is automatically rejected.

Please use the 24/7 Support option (or the Help Line if you're not logged in) and describe what you found in as much detail as you can. Security reports are treated as a priority.
